Dear members and freediving community,

We have recently received the registration details regarding the AIDA pool world championships (18-25 June 2022) and will be releasing the application process for the Australian team this week. Individuals must be AFA members holding an Australian passport in order to apply, and the detailed selection criteria may be reviewed in Section 4.1 of the AFA bylaws (available on our Downloads page). Six women and six men are eligible to compete within each discipline, and any individuals gaining a wildcard entry are able to enter external to this quota. Congratulations to Australians Amber Bourke (DNF) and Jordan Duncan (DYNB) whose 2021 international rankings have earned themselves a wildcard entry for those disciplines!

Bids for AIDA depth world championships are presently being submitted to the Assembly and will be sent out for member vote once received.

The AFA National member survey results for Australian Pool Nationals was overwhelmingly in favour of the second half of the year owing to COVID disruptions for travel and training early this year. The AFA will be releasing dates and further information once confirmed with the venue.

Kind regards,

The AFA
